A new massage therapist has skills, a table and an empty calendar. The good news is that the first fifty clients are a systems problem, not a talent problem. Here is the order that works, in three thirty-day blocks.
Days 1 to 30: be findable and bookable
- Google Business Profile. Claim it, complete every field, add real photos of you and your room, list your services and hours, and add your booking link.
- Booking software. Jane, Noterro, Vagaro, Square Appointments: pick one and make online booking live. See which booking software fits.
- One landing page. Who you are, what you treat, direct billing if you offer it, your first-visit offer, a booking button.
- Tell everyone you know. The first ten clients usually come from your own network. Ask each one for a review after their second visit.
Days 31 to 60: buy demand, answer fast
- Google Search and Maps ads for massage near me and your specialty in your city. Judge by booked appointments.
- Respond in seconds. Put your phone on loud, use text auto-replies, or have someone answer for you. The first therapist to respond gets the booking.
- Rebook at the table. Every client, every time. Suggest the next date before they stand up.
Days 61 to 90: make it compound
- Follow-up sequence. Same-day thank-you, check-in, rebooking prompt timed to the treatment, win-back at 60 days. Email and SMS.
- Referral ask. After the third visit, with a card or link that makes it easy.
- Local partners. One chiropractor, one physio, one gym. Offer to treat their staff once.
- Measure. New clients, first-visit rebooking rate, average visits per client.
What to avoid in the first 90 days
Discount marketplaces, printed flyers, and spending on social posting with no ads behind it. They feel productive and produce very little.
If you would rather not do the marketing
Several of our clients started from scratch: Carmello and Briseida launched their practices with us and were booked solid in weeks. We run the campaigns, cover the ad costs, answer every lead in five seconds and book into your calendar. See marketing for solo massage therapists.
